Money should never stop you

So this ‘wad of bills’ is what stops you from taking action to go on mission for the Lord? These rolled up pieces of paper are greater in power and might than the Lord?  Most reasons people give for not going on a mission are financial. They either don’t have it or don’t want to spend it.  Rolled up paper.

If Jesus were to appear before you right now would you say “Lord, I would go but I don’t have enough money.” What you are saying is that money is controlling your life.  Can you substantiate this perspective from Holy Scripture?

People find money for whatever they need. When the Lord had me preaching in Woodruff Park in Atlanta for four years one lesson was that even homeless people love money.  The love of money is the root of all evil.  Often this affection is clothed, consciously and unconsciously, in language about everyday needs.

The truth is the expression, “I don’t have enough money” is language that you love money. For if you wanted to take action for the Lord you would do whatever it takes to go. That’s the difference between those Saints who want to preach the Gospel for the glory of our great God and Savior and those who don’t. They tackle and overcome this perspective on money. Money no longer controls their actions.  The will of the Lord is what takes precedence.

The best response if you don’t want to take action is, “I don’t want to do this” that way you have expressed the truth which is liberating.  But if you do want to take action and want to learn how to overcome the love of money then say something to that effect like, “I want to go can you teach me how to get the money to go?”.  See the difference?

If you want to take action there are many videos teaching fundraising on the ministry page: Fundraising Training.

Even rich men have to overcome their financial situation and raise money for their projects. Fundraising is not just for the missionary.  So if you want to take action look at the Fundraising page and contact us.

The ministry of inconvenience

Yes Mr. Chesterton: evangelistic ministry is a ministry of inconvenience. As unspiritual as it might sound man often replies to the Holy Spirit when he’s convicted to take evangelistic action, “You want me to do what?” “When?”

Have you ever entered into that realm of thought when you begin to excuse yourself from this conviction? “I’ve got work to do, friends to visit, games to attend, blog posts to read and Twitter to follow.”

You see this same type of response in Luke 14 when men are invited to the King’s feast: Luke 14:16-20: 16 But He said to him, “A man was giving a big dinner, and he invited many; 17 and at the dinner hour he sent his slave to say to those who had been invited, ‘Come; for everything is ready now.’ 18 But they all alike began to make excuses. The first one said to him, ‘I have bought a piece of land and I need to go out and look at it; please consider me excused.’ 19 Another one said, ‘I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I am going to try them out; please consider me excused.’ 20 Another one said, ‘I have married a wife, and for that reason I cannot come.’

Excuse making is not a contemporary phenomena.  Nor is it acceptable to the Lord.  It is a response from the ‘old man’ who hates God when he is convicted by God to take action.  You must realize that these types or responses are not righteous responses, repent of this response and take the action the Lord wants you to take.

The Good News is that the result of this repentance is knowing God more deeply and experiencing the abundant life Jesus speaks about in the Gospel of John. Next time the Holy Spirit convicts you to take action remember to immediately respond yes even if your ‘old man’ fights you and do what the Holy Spirit is telling you to do. On the other side is a more intimate relationship with the Lord.

“Do you know your sins are forgiven”

These words were spoken by George Whitefield the tremendous 17th Century evangelist to Howell  Harris likewise a fruitful evangelist from Wales when they initially met.  It is interesting the first thing Rev. Whitefield spoke was concerning forgiveness of sins.  He could have discussed his ministry successes, the way the Church of England treated him, his ministry with John Wesley, his future plans or any number of other topics. Yet Rev. Whitefield directly asked Rev. Harris about the forgiveness of his sins.

As evangelists what is our message?  It’s the same as Rev. Whitefield’s.  As we encounter souls the aim of our message is that they would know they can be forgiven of their sins and how.  As evangelists we are charged with bringing a direct and clear message that man is a sinner and must have his sins forgiven to be reconciled to God.

This message unlike other messages brings eternal Life and Immortality to light in the sinners life.  He is confronted with his beliefs about whether he is a sinner or no and if he believes this truth what he must do to atone for his sins.

In that regard evangelism is a very simple work.  Direct and to the point the evangelist is equipped to bring this light upon his hearers and frankly this must be the evangelist’s passion: bringing salvation to the lost.

Is this your passion? Are you preoccupied with your fellow man’s eternal relationship with the living God?  In a state of unbelief man’s relationship with God is one of enmity. Thus the evangelist’s passion is to preach salvation to this soul that he may know his sins are forgiven.  If this passion burns in you then register to join us today.

SFOI’s vision “To mobilize the next generation of George Whitefields to saturate the western world with the Gospel” is a vision of an army evangelists blanketing the western world whose passion is the salvation of souls. May we join with Rev. Whitefield announcing to the western world, “Do you know your sins are forgiven”.

October 1st (Saturday)-
UGA vs. Tennessee (Alex Burt)
fb_img_1475720723309 fb_img_1475720740514
The Tennessee Volunteers rolled into Athens on Saturday to take on the Georgia Bulldogs. Thousands of fans poured into the Tate Center and the bridge where we set up for ministry. We had the usual crew of Bobby, Hannah, Eden and myself, but were also blessed to have Rich, Mike and Freddie with us. The extra manpower was very timely as this was one of the larger crowds.
Freddie preached first, followed by myself, Rich and Bobby. Since we had arrived earlier than normal we still had a few minutes before kick off and the gate was clogged up with hundreds of folks waiting to get into the game so I had the privilege of preaching to this captive audience.
Hundreds of tracts were given out and thousands heard the Gospel. Praying for fruit that is unseen by us, but known to God!

Alabama vs Kentucky (Larry Sullivan)

Brother Bob Bynum and I began tract evangelism at the at the Southside of stadium at 2:30pm. When we first arrived their, Bob got to share the gospel with a man in a wheel chair. Then as we progressed through the ministry time both of us got to preach the word. We had many positive comments from the people who going to the game. We are not having any problems with University or Police officials at this site. Friday night outreach before the game went well. I had one good gospel conversation with a person from Kentucky.

The next game at the University of Alabama is in three weeks, Alabama vs Texas A&M. This should be a great game for outreach. Lots of interest in the game. Lots of people! Brother Al Baker is coming to this game with a couple of seminary students. So please be praying for this outreach.

20161001_123558 20161001_140500 20161001_142234

Worthy is the Lamb! What a beautiful day, and honor it was to be out today sharing the Gospel of King Jesus.

The message that was pressed upon my heart was “Time” and I opened the message with a question which was, “What is the most valuable asset you have outside of salvation”? The answer is “Time.” Reading from Ephesians 5:15-20 the passages reminds us of how to live and to make the most use of God’s gift of time to use.

It was Remarkable in just two short weeks since my last outting at William Brice Stadium God has done a mighty work, as I had many people that welcomed me back, and stated “They remember seeing me there a few weeks ago, and they were happy I was back”! Praise God!

Moreover, I had two people come up and share their testimony and encouraged others to repent and receive Jesus as Lord. God even used a five year old whom I gave the microphone to and she testified and stated ” Recently I gave my life to Jesus” and she went on to testify that she “Loved Jesus”!!!! Wooo. Talk about powerful! God said He uses all thing’s to bring glory (Romans 8:28). An if that little girls testimony to steer your fire well then your wood is wet!

In addition God opened the door for three one on one conversation to take place, as the Lord brought the mouths of sins to a close. However, they still were unwilling to repent and turn to Jesus, but praise God He is drawing them!!!!

Furthermore, there were several that said they would plain to come out and help pass out tracks at the next game. This is good news as the field is plentiful, but few labors (Matthew 9:37). God is raising up works to GO!!!

However, I did have some folks come out and join me for a while from my local Church (I attached a picture of Betty, Matthew, and myself). I was very encouraged in having them both come out a labor in the fields for the Lord Jesus!

In closing, it was a trill to see God at work in the people’s hearts, and changing lives.
I closed with the retorcal question about “Time” and that, “Time is short and we all are going to die, as the Bible says in Hebrews 9:27, ” It is appointed unto man to die once and then to be judged.” Therefore, how will you respond if God ask you, but remember He already knows!! Hence, surrender your time to the Lord Jesus and allow Him to for fill His purpose in and through your life that brings Him glory!!!

October 2nd (Sunday)-
Atlanta Falcons vs Carolina Panthers (Jeff Padia)
I was joined by my friend Pete, a brother from my church, Faith Bible, in the ministry to Atlanta Falcons (and Carolina Panther!) fans at the Georgia Dome this day. We began the day by handing out tracts (about 700 for the day) as people started arriving for the game. As the crowd began to build to a more steady stream of fans coming down the sidewalk, I began to preach the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Several hecklers and mockers passed by today, all doing the drive-by heckler “thing”. By God’s grace, I returned their reviling with kindness and compassion. These poor souls are just doing what sinners do— showing their contempt and hatred for God. May God have mercy on their souls. I pray that seeds were sown in their life today that God might use to bring them to repentance and faith one day. God also brought several people by my spot who offered encouragement and gratitude for the gospel being proclaimed. A couple of folks stopped by and inquired about Bill Adams as well. 🙂
I had the opportunity to pray with a man named Ronnie, who was concerned about his sister who is expected to die soon. He professed to know Christ, and we talked about the Scriptures and the gospel. I also talked with a man named John, a Georgia Dome worker out on the sidewalk, who confessed to being a former drug addict and drunkard. I shared with him that I too had once been a drunkard, until God opened my eyes to see the patience and kindness and mercy He had shown me. I pointed John to Christ as his only hope. Though he considers himself to be an agnostic, he claimed to be searching for God through the Scriptures, mentioning various books of the Bible that he’s been looking into. I urged him to read the book of John and the book of Romans. Please pray for both of these men.

George Whitefield Program for full-time evangelists – Training June 18-22

Do you believe you are called to be a full-time evangelist?

If so review the information on the George Whitefield Program and the Annual GWP Training being conducted June 18 – 22.

Does your soul burn with a passion to proclaim Christ to the lost world?  If so, visit the George Whitefield Program to see the cities where evangelists are being placed, and learn more about the GWP.

Rev. George Whitefield, the 18th Century evangelist and leader of what is commonly known as the 18th Century revival is perhaps the most prolific and fruitful evangelist since the Apostle Paul.

For more information about Rev. Whitefield read the two volume biography written by Arnold Dallimore.

The Great Commission

Matthew 28:18-20: And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit,20 teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

All Christians live in the wake of the Lord’s commission which is called the Great Commission. Why? Because the Apostles and the individual disciples did what Jesus said and went into all the world doing what He said to do.  Therefore their labors and teachings brought the Gospel to us.

If they had not gone we would not be saved.  We would not have heard the Gospel and would not have believed.

No obedience to the Great Commission no salvation.

Are you engaged in the Great Commission?  The Lord said “go” are you going?

The power of the cross…

What happened on the cross where Jesus of Nazareth hung 20 centuries ago on Golgotha? The Scriptures tell us Jesus’ final words were, “It is finished.” What was finished?

Genesis chapter 3:1-19 recounts the story of Adam and Eve who sinned by eating from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. In eating from the tree they became sinners, dead towards a relationship with God or as the Scripture says about man, they were at enmity with God, and without hope in the world unless God acted. The verses also contain the judgement of God against Adam and Eve for their sin.

Yet in verse 21 Scripture says,  “The Lord God made garments of skin for Adam and his wife, and clothed them.” In this verse is the foreshadowing of the work that would be finished at the cross which is the complete and eternal atonement for the sins of mankind.

The Lamb of God, our substitutionary atonement, was crucified for the sins of the world.  Scripture teaches the blood of animals does not atone for man’s sins but that the blood of God’s Son, born into the world as Jesus of Nazareth, would sufficiently atone for man’s sins.

If that is what happened on the cross and all of the Biblical history was leading to that point then is that the core of our evangelistic message?  And if it is the core of our message should we be hesitant in preaching it?  For if all the centuries of mankind beginning with Adam led to Jesus of Nazareth being crucified then should not our own evangelistic efforts lead to the same place?

Of course Jesus of Nazareth was raised from the dead on the third day and then He was preached by the Apostles as the foretold Christ of God and that by man’s faith in the Christ his sins would be forgiven and covered.  But let’s, as evangelists, drive men to the cross, if they have not been before, to reckon their sins forgiven for that is where the power of the Gospel is located; as Paul says, “I boast only in the cross of Christ.”

Battle at Bristol Update: Sept 10, 2016

Whew. Have you ever seen 150,000 fans at one place? That’s what happened at the Bristol Motor Speedway for the Battle at Bristol (if you click this link you can see a few official videos). This is my favorite official promotional video.  It gives you an idea of the pre-game.

Mission accomplished for the organizers of the ‘Largest College Football Game Ever’. Ten of us were at the tract for 8 hours and we probably could have arrived 2 hours earlier and found thousands of fans already at the track.

For all the SFOI pictures and videos visit: Battle at Bristol.

These pictures give you an insight into the crowds that surrounded one of our locations all day. There were many conversations held plus all of the passing comments. Most of them were encouraging which means the Saints in the crowd were grateful to hear the Word preached and of course there were a few ‘hecklers’ but nothing unusual.

The good news is these souls were able to hear the Word in the power of the Spirit and as Paul tells us in I Corinthians 1:17-24 the Gospel is the power of God unto salvation and in 2 Corinthians 2:4-5 and 1 Thessalonians 1:5 that our faith rests on the power of God.

These are videos of everyone preaching. Faith comes by hearing (Romans 10:17).

Peter talks about in 1 Peter 1:23-25, “..for you have been born again not of seed which is perishable but imperishable, that is, through the living and enduring word of God. 24 For,

All flesh is like grassAnd all its glory like the flower of grassThe grass withersAnd the flower falls off25 But the word of the Lord endures forever.” And this is the word which was preached to you.”
